In year one we have been working hard looking at the upcoming celebrations for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

There has been lots of talking about what this is and how it will be celebrated as well as looking back over the years to how it was celebrated in the past.

The children have been so engaged with learning about how long the Queen has been on the throne and how she became Queen.

Year one has looked at the decade of the 1980’s and have been able to see some of the styles and clothes that were worn as Mrs Assirati, Mrs Mason and Mrs Lamb have modelled these throughout the week. The children have been doing lots of different activities during the week.  These have included

Making fruit salad

Creating timelines

Learning a dance

Making crowns

Finger painting the Union Jack

And much more.

We had a visit from some members of Southcrest Church.  Our visitors shared that the Queen drove past the office window where she worked and how magical and special the day was.
