We have made a great start to this half term. The children have returned full of enthusiasm and excited to start our new MOE - Africa. They have started this week by helping our client Iris write a letter of complaint to her local zoo. She is not happy that they want to put the lion back in his cage. If we were the zoo keepers receiving any of those letters, we would be thinking twice! The children are really enjoying our Guided Reading text How to Hide a Lion, and are looking forward to finding out more about this very friendly lion.

This half term we will be looking at the African Savannah and the plants and animals that call it home. Although we are now very familiar with lions, the children are looking forward to finding out more about some of their favourite wild animals. This week we started an experiment to see whether a plant can survive in any temperature providing it has water.

We have also just started fractions in maths so the next time you have a pizza night the children will have a really good understanding of how to share it equally!

We have started to look at the production that the children will be putting on at the end of this term. There will be more information to come about this, which we will post on our individual Class Dojo pages.

This promises to be a really exciting final half term for the children in Year 2. We want to make it as busy and as fun packed as we can for them before they head off to Year 3. If the commitment and enthusiasm they have shown this week is anything to go by, then it will be a half term to remember!
